✰ Materials I use in creation ✰
The most common materials I use for making jewelry are surgical stainless steel, classic costume jewelry, platinum wires, and tin with silver. For beads, I most often use natural minerals, gemstones, acrylic, glass, or plastic. I also frequently use recycled materials that someone else might throw away – I try to give them new life. All jewelry pieces are unique and can be customized. This includes adjustments to size, color, or style using chains and similar elements.
Stainless steel
Surgical steel is a type of stainless steel specifically designed for medical and surgical purposes. It is hypoallergenic, corrosion-resistant, and is often used in jewelry making due to its durability and non-reactive properties. This means your jewelry will last a lifetime, as long as you avoid exposure to chemicals (such as perfumes, chlorine, etc.).
Costume Jewelry
Costume jewelry is made from more affordable materials compared to fine jewelry. These materials often include base metals like brass or copper, as well as alloys and other non-ferrous metals. However, I also use this type of jewelry for its wide range of beautiful and unique pendants. Keep in mind, though, that costume jewelry doesn't mix well with water.
Tin mixed with 3% of silver
Tin with silver is a combination I often use to create unique pieces. Tin, a soft and malleable metal, gives a rustic or vintage look, while silver adds a brilliant shine and durability. Of course, this tin is lead-free and non-toxic to your skin. On the contrary, it is a very valuable piece of jewelry that will last a lifetime thanks to the silver. If it loses its shine, simply polish it with the cloth you'll receive in the package.
Platinum
Platinum wire is a thin, flexible thread made from platinum. Platinum is a precious metal known for its durability, corrosion resistance, and hypoallergenic properties. Platinum wire is easy to shape and manipulate, making it ideal for intricate jewelry designs. I often use it for necklaces that serve as chokers, replacing elastic cords that could stretch or break over time.
Gemstones
Gemstones are small, polished pieces of natural or synthetic gems that have been drilled to be threaded onto jewelry wire or string. I use a wide variety of gemstones, as well as beautiful synthetic pieces, for tin jewelry and necklaces.
Glass
I mainly use glass for creating pendants. Each glass piece is cut, shaped, and then tin-coated, resulting in unique and original designs. Glass adds a beautiful, clean shine and elegance to the jewelry.
Acrylic beads
Acrylic beads are small, lightweight beads made from acrylic plastic. Acrylic is a versatile material that can be shaped into various forms, including beads. I also use acrylic for some pendants, especially for earrings, to ensure they are not too heavy to wear.
Ceramic
A unique material with a natural and rustic appearance. I use it in jewelry in the form of handmade pendants or beads, and I also incorporate them into tin jewelry.
Pearls
Pearl beads are small, round beads made from real pearls or mother-of-pearl materials, often referred to as faux pearls, which are made from materials like glass, plastic, or ceramic. I primarily use freshwater pearls, which are shaped into various forms, as well as mother-of-pearl, which has beautiful iridescent reflections. These pieces tend to be more expensive, as a single pearl can range from 3 to 5 euros in price.
Mineral beads
Mineral beads are small, usually rounded pieces made from various types of minerals. These minerals can include both natural and synthetic materials. What I love about these beads is their quality and the comfortable wear. Of course, it's important to note that these minerals also carry healing properties.
Faceted beads
Faceted beads are beads made from various materials that have been cut or sliced into smaller pieces. I most often use faceted mineral beads in my jewelry.
Plastic beads
Plastic beads are small, lightweight beads made from various types of plastic materials. These beads are popular in jewelry making due to their lightness when worn. Plastic beads are also durable and resistant to damage, making them ideal for everyday wear.
Here are some tips for caring for jewelry made from various materials:
Costume Jewelry
When creating jewelry, I sometimes use costume jewelry components for a simple reason – many beautiful pendants and unique designs are available in costume jewelry form. However, this doesn't mean that costume jewelry won't last in perfect condition. With proper care, they can last for years!
I myself have been wearing some of my designs for over two years, and they still look as new. The secret is in the proper care:
✔ Protect from moisture – avoid water, especially when bathing, showering, or swimming.
✔ Keep away from perfumes and cosmetics – chemicals can damage the surface of the jewelry.
✔ Store in a dry place – ideally in a jewelry box or fabric pouch.
✔ After each wear, gently wipe with a soft cloth to remove dirt and oils.
✔ Avoid abrasive materials and harsh chemicals that could damage the surface.
✔ Don't wear during physical activities – exercise, manual work, or sports can cause mechanical damage.
If you take proper care of your jewelry, it will stay beautiful for many years! ✨
Stainless steel and platinum
Surgical steel is a very durable material that doesn't require extensive maintenance. However, to keep its shine and beauty for as long as possible, I recommend following a few simple guidelines:
✔ After wearing, gently wipe with a soft cloth to remove dirt and oils.
✔ Store it in a dry place away from moisture to prevent the buildup of dirt.
✔ Avoid contact with harsh chemicals and abrasive materials that could damage the surface.
✔ Don't wear it while swimming or showering, even though regular water won't harm surgical steel – this will help preserve its perfect look.
✨ The same goes for platinum, which maintains its quality if cared for in a similar way.
With a little care, your surgical steel and platinum jewelry will look great for many years! 💎💖
Tin and silver
Jewelry made from tin and silver is water-friendly but sensitive to certain external factors. To preserve its beauty for as long as possible, I recommend following these tips:
✔ Avoid saltwater, chlorine, and chemicals – perfumes, cleaning products, or other harsh substances can affect their appearance.
✔ After each wear, gently polish them with the included cloth to restore their natural shine.
✔ Although they are water-resistant, it's better to minimize contact with moisture to avoid dullness or loss of shine.
✔ Store them in a dry place – ideally in a jewelry box or fabric pouch to prevent oxidation.
With proper care, your tin and silver jewelry will retain its unique beauty for many years! ✨💍
